1. please introduce yourslf

Georgia Taglietti - International Media Manager at Sonar Festival, Barcelona Vir Rousse - Sonar Festival Booking Manager

2. what do you think about your domestic electronic music scene?

The domestic music scene in Barcelona is quite dead. There are not many producers / musicians working on real projects that could have an appeal.
There is no fresh sound. Though, the dj scene is quite established and working really well. Djs such as Sideral, Angel Molina, 2d2, Nacho Marco, Oscar Mulero, Paco Osuna, JL Magoya, the Bongo Lounge sessions, Omar... they are very well known djs with a lot of following in Spain.

3. what do you think about european electronic music scene?

Quite good actually, besides the "crisis" rumors. Germany, the Scandinavian countries, UK, part of the Eastern countries, we still receive at Sonar lots of good productions and fresh sounds. Lots of labels have been reassuring their position in the market and maybe also they produce less but better.

Hip Hop is definitively one of the genres that is producing the most interesting cross over with electronic sounds, as well as break beats. there is an interesting "indietronica"scene that will probably be more established as a serious genre.

4. what do you think about north ameriacn electronic music scene?

There is not much contact between Europe and Northamerica still.
The scene we most know is the SF based, cause was flourishing with unexpected sounds past years. Metro Area is certainly the biggest name since 6 months ago... now starting playin in Europe.

Lots of small independent labels like Anticon which are very alive and work hardly to find their own niche. Media wise is quite strange. There is not much coverage of electronic music there. (except XLR8R and Urb of course)

5. do you know the japanese electronic music scene?

we did a Sonaround event in Tokio past November and did very well with lots of Japanese artists participating.
Though the country is far away from Europe and we probably get the half of what is produced for the local market, still we think it is and would be most appealing. They have a big clubbing / live concerts scene, and they can collaborate with lots of international artists that feel that Japanese public really "feels the vibe" of electronica. We really feel that the only handicap is physical dis

> and are you interested in it?

Yes, definitively.

6. what do you think about the future of electronic music environment/scene?

Crossover. As a word. As a concept in which electronica finds its own place in all genres. As an instrument. As a language that meets others.
And definitively thip hop ,which is strong as pop right now, will have a bigger influence. Electronica finally as a way of life, see things, live music.

7. do you have any interests in current music scene?

yes. do we have to mention artists? this could be long.....

8. if you have something to add, feel free.
