Rick Lombardo
(label founder from US)

1. please introduce yourslf

My Name is Rick Lombardo aka The Glass Sun Theory and co founder of the Noise Element label in Brooklyn NY.

2. what do you think about your domestic electronic music scene?

I believe there are a lot of great labels and artist out here in the United States. There are also great stores here, where many people can find and purchase this kind of music for instance: Other Music and Kim's underground in NYC and many more throughout the country.
There's also some small radio stations for example WFMU is a listener supported radio station that takes donations and survives on what people donate. They play some of the best in electronic music especially a show called The Pounding System with Clay.
I first heard most of the artist that I like on his show for the first time. WFMU is definitely a good outlet to break in new artist to the public. There is also a great idm scene starting to emerge in New York as well, that's why my friends and I have started the Noise Element label.

3. What do you think about European electronic music scene?

I think it is one of the finest and most innovative. There are many great artists out there everyone from Aphex Twin, Autechre, Jan Jelinek, Boards of Canada and many others.
I think they are having a profound influence on the electronic music scene allover the world. I think there is a great idm scene going on there. I am addicted to a lot of artists in Europe.

4. do you know the japanese electronic music scene?

I have to admit I am not too familiar with it but I am noticing that there are a lot of good things happening there.
My first introduction is with the Progressive Form label and I believe that there is a lot of talent emerging on that label.

> And are you interested in it?

Yes I am very interested to explore what more the Japanese music scene has to offer.

5. what do you think about future of electronic music environment/scene?

I predict a bright and exciting future. I think that we will see more original and interesting things. Computers play an important role in this, the more advance they become the more possibilities exist.
There are things that we are doing with computers today that were not even possible ten years ago, it's great. I would like to see more music where electronic devices are being merged with traditional instruments like Stereolab, Mum, Tortoise and others as well.
