(English below)
Mr.Yoshinori Hosoki who's working as an artist in Paris took me to Gallery tour on Saturday. This time we mainly visited 3rd and 13th arrondissements from noon until evening. Mr.Hosoki is one of my art teachers in Paris and I'm always asking him questions about art. But to be honest.. I don't really appreciate French contemporary art at the moment though..
I think Europe has much better situation for art, most of the goverments are helping and supporting artists and galleries, and artists have a lot of places and platforms to express themselves. But i feel that this situation doesn't really work in the good way to bring up new talented people.(maybe I'm wrong but this is what i felt) This might be too strong to say but i can say that it is overprotected. However I also can say that Every system has some drawback and advantage. On the other hand, Japanese artist have quite difficult situation. We don't have enough support, galleries and museums compare to Europe. Mr.Hosoki told me that this Japanese hard situation help to bring new enthusiastic artis now. I think i can tell the same thing in Japanese electronic music scene too. We have really difficult situation for Japanese electronic musicians(I'm sure that musicians from oversea doesn't really believe it, because they've been treated really nice when they come to Japan), but i know so many talented Japanese people there too. We're gonna make Japanese electronic music scene bigger and I'm sure that you'll find those talented people in electronic music scene in Europe in the near future. And I'd like to be one of them too. I'm doing my best.

昨日は友人のフランス人トランぺッターの家で食事。そこからの景色が凄く奇麗でした。月も良い感じ。
今は何とかリミックスも終わってホッとしてます。時間かけて良かった。
Dear Aoki.
I totally agree with you.
In this case, I was living and performing in Uruguay, a little country where experimental electronic music artists do not have many chances to be known overseas, in the most common situations they don´t perform at any place.
These guys are really enthusiastic because of their hard situation and they are great artists.
What I think is that as difficult is the situation, as better the enthusiasm and original are the ideas.
All the best, and hoping to see you performing in my country.

thank you very much for your comment.
I understnad what you mean very much.
Now we're living in a really difficult time to keep making music especially my kind of electronic music. To be honest, I don't think my music is "Experimental", I don't really like this word. I just wanna make something really good, beautiful, funky and new. and I've been trying to get as many audience as possible to make my situation better and to do what i really want to do. I believe that Once we get a lot of audiece, we'll be able to do what we really want to do(famous artists always can play in the better situation, good sound systems, good venues and good event. this is what i want) and I believe that "POP music" which have many audience, must be something really good and new. So this means I've been trying make the new POP music maybe... I hope my English is good enough..
>What I think is that as difficult is the situation,
>as better the enthusiasm and original are the ideas.
I agree with you too.
>All the best, and hoping to see you performing in my country.
Yes, I hope so too.
Now I'm doing my best to get as many audience as possible.
If i'll be able to make better music and get enough audience, I'm sure that I can visit your country someday and do LIVE at there. and I really wanna to it.
thanks again.
happy to now you in paris, cause i am a reel born parisian guy and i living in tokyo now...it's cool to do reverse feels !!!!

Posted by: Ai-Hz at January 17, 2006 1:20 PMDear Aoki.
I really like your concept of what POP music should be, but we know that most POP labels aren´t looking for top innovating music, nor one guy performing with his/her laptop, his/her audio interface, whatever...
Most of them want beautyful people to keep fans mad and get a lot of money (in your country it happens with idols).
When they get tired of that idol, they find a new beautyful girl, and they make a lot of money with her until a new one comes.
I think that POP music concept is a very dangerous weapon against artists, because someday you are at the top, and the other... you understand me.
They also can control the music you do, telling you what you have to do, or what not. I think that an artist has to do what he/she has in his/her mind, not what people want from him/her.
That´s why I think that the way to bring innovating music is the underground way, or work for a music label which allows you to do what you really want. That´s very difficult to find in POP music.
I hope that this will situation will chage in the future, but at the moment POP music is dominated by money and not by art.
(I respect all POP music artists and their work).
All the best!

thank you for your comment.
I'll check your web. thanks.

I understand what you mean very much, and i also understand the situation of POP music today because I'm Japanese ;-)
However, (it is still difficult to explain what i really want to say in English though..I'll try..) what i really want to do is, just keep making music what i really want, and wanna have more communication with as many people as possible in all over the world with my sound, and also(this is really important for me) i want them to enjoy.
and I also think that innovating music doesn't really have to be experimental or something called cutting edge. It has to be new anyway, but for example, we can maybe mix with classic music with raggae or dub( this is what RADIQ aka Yoshihiro Hanno does, and he always makes really innovating music but always POP in a way. You should check his sound when you have a chance). This can be also innovating. But as you say, it's a bit pity but most of the POP music label don't really want it.. they just want something they can get a lot of money from it today. But i also understand their situation too. Before people start copying CDs, they could spent a lot of money to make really good music, because people bought records or CDs. but now they can't really spent a lot of money because people are not really interested in buying CDs at the moment. so they naturally have to make something like products not like art piece. and I don't blame people who copy CDs. people copy because they can do it. No one can stop this.
Anyway, Now situation has changed. And we're now living in the world like this and making music. We have to adapt and have to find some ways to keep making music, good and innovating music. I believe that there must be some ways. I'm always trying to find the way everyday and I'm sure that i can find it someday.
However, I believe this situation doesn't last that long( maybe I should say i hope) and i hope people will also get bored with this situation too ;-) and start searching for something really innovative. And when people start doing it, i hope i'm making something innovative then.
>(I respect all POP music artists and their work).
YES, i also respect too. Because they get a lot of popularity today anyway. and this means they're producing what people want today. This is something really difficult to do.
thank you so much for your great comment.
all the best.
Dear Aoki.
I have the last Logistic vynil from Yoshihiro Hanno(Quadrile), I love it and I play it in some sets when I´m on the decks and not doing it live by my own.
He´s a great artist, and a great styles mixer!
All the best!

thanks for your comment.
I'm glad to heat that you've already got Yoshihiro's work!
He's been releasing incredible works since logn time ago,
but Unfortunately most of them are not really distributed except Japan.
Japanese are importing sooooooo many things from oversea, but we can't really
export our great musicians works.. It's really really really pity...
But i know this is the situation that we're living.
We're working hard to change this right now.
One of His solo albums called "Lido" is master piece.. No question. This is what i should call "innovating music".
It is released on Japanese SONY records, but they're really conservative
( most of the Japanese major label are the same)
and it's almost impossible to release it in overseas..
If you have a chance to visit Japan someday, Please check this
album "Lido"! and his other works.
hi AOKI
I have been listening to your "Quantum" album alot recently and I was wondering...who is the girl who sings a little in "A Girl At The Corner", "They've Been Waiting" and "Some Books And A Bookshelf"?
I like these vocals alot and how you used them.
"Quantum" was the first of your solo works I heard and I like it very much. The sounds on this album have really influenced me alot lately when making my own music :-)
thanks.
best,
Murray Turner, Scotland.
P.S- The only album I have by Yoshihiro Hanno is "9 modules +". I like this album alot :-)
I wish I could buy more of his works too...
I will look out for "Lido" ;-)
Murray.
>who is the girl who sings a little in "A Girl At The Corner",
>"They've Been Waiting" and "Some Books And A Bookshelf"?
She's one of my friend Erin. She was around 16 years old when i
recorded those songs.
thanks for listening "Quantum".
Posted by: AOKI at January 20, 2006 11:20 PMHi, i am a fan of japanese electronic music in North America, i found this website through tujiko noriko's collaboration album. i really loved your music!!!! i have always loved tujiko noriko's work, but when it was you and her together, i REALLY loved it!
anyway, as a student of music (i study composition), i absolutely agree with your comment above about whether "pop" music or any music can indeed be innovating no matter what genre. this is SO true, and i learned a lot from your comments. i realized that is what i want to do with the songs i write. although i am still learning, and have A LOT to learn and also alot to creat, i am gonna try my best, all my best to make the most innovating music no matter what genre, no matter what country i am in (meaning what "situation" the country may have about the kind of music i create)
i will come here often to read your message. take care and blessings!
Posted by: Jin at January 21, 2006 1:16 AMHello Jin.
Thank you for your comment.
and also Thank you for listening to our "28".
I'm so glad that you loved it.
I hope you also enjoy my solo works (Unfortunately they're not really distributed in North America though..)
>i learned a lot from your comments
I'm glad to heat that my bad English worked well this time ;-)
I was helped by so many people who support me on this blog
and i'm also learning a lot of things from their comments.
I'd like to share more information about music, or anything people want to talk about.

thanks again.
hi AOKI,
i was wondering if you could tell me a little bit about your works on "Come And Play In Our Backyard" with Ogurusu Norihide and Takagi Masakatsu?
I discovered this album a little while ago but I didn't know anything about it.
I have heard a few songs from this album and I like them very much, especially "ERIN" and "Get The FNK" :-)
I also love "Humming Song" too...
thanks.
best,
Murray.
Murray
thanks for your comment.
This compilation was planned by Japanese label called BEAMS records and released in 2003.
http://www.beams.co.jp/beams_records/index.html
Me and Ogurusu worked together on few songs and Takagi also put few song in this album. It's like half collaboration album and half compilation album. I named this title and i quite like it sounds myself.
I'm glad that you liked some of my songs. It's quite old though.. ;-)
